Donny King

Donny is a retired employee of the State of Tennessee.  During his time with the State, he worked as a front-line Eligibility Counselor, Claim Writer in Investigations, Quality Control Reviewer and Supervisor, Appeals and Hearings Supervisor, and his most recent job was Director of Program Review in the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Human Services.  As the Director of Program Review, he interacted with many federal, state, and local politicians and leaders, as well as with many grass-roots organizations, and was responsible for implementing several new initiatives during his tenure.  In his career, he served on many special projects, one of which was working in Governor McWherter's office as the Department's Liaison during the implementation of TennCare, which was Tennessee's alternative to Medicaid.

He holds an Associates of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Tennessee Tech University, and a Masters in Public Administration from Tennessee State University.

He has been married over forty years to Cara Teasley, who is from Springfield and also attented Tennessee Tech.  She is a retired School Psychologist for the Robertson County school system.  They have three children and eight grandchildren.

Donny has been active in officiating football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball for forty years on levels from youth sports up to and including college.  He has officiated a state football final, a state tournament in basketball, district and regional tournaments in volleyball, and many state and national tournaments in baseball.

Since retirement from the state, he has embraced his love of singing and the theatre.  He has sung with the Willow Oak Chorus, the Robertson County Choral Society, the APSU Governor Singers, and the Gateway Chamber Chorus; performed in two operas with the APSU Opera Theatre; and been a part of twelve productions with the Robertson County Players.
